From the windswept coastal plains of Elim to the cool maritime climate of Hermanus and the heights of the Elgin mountains, you will find award winning wines, where each glass will have it’s own authentic and original character and distinctive terroir.

The Wine Glass in Hermanus offers a selection of close to 100 wines available from these vineyards to taste, savour and enjoy by the glass, by the bottle or simply in a tasting flight of six.

Scrumptious plates of food are served from our kitchen where our chef has been inspired by local cuisine to take you on a gastronomic journey.

Cool sea air flows across the Overberg region, bringing with it spectacular grape-growing conditions for producing award-winning wines. The diverse landscape gives each winemaker something unique to work with, but overall, slow-ripening grapes burst with flavour and a distinctive coastal character. Wine from our region has never been easier to appreciate. We pride ourselves in representing a wonderful selection of wines from Botriver, Hemel & Aarde, Stanford, Elim and Agulhas.
PASSIONATE WINEMAKERS

White wine grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc flourish in the relatively cool climate of our region, with red-wine varietals such as Pinot Noir, Pinotage and Shiraz shining on the world stage. The favourable growing conditions in the Overberg make for well-balanced wines that are complex in flavour with good levels of fresh acidity. North-easterly winds in winter bring rain to Overberg, and the highest-altitude vineyards may even get a peppering of snow. This allows the vines a period of dormancy over the winter, giving them time to replenish their stocks of nutrients before the next growing season.

Botrivier boasts and eclectic  bunch of enthusiastic young winemakers who wholeheartedly invested their dreams in this region’s soil, giving us some of the best Chenin Blanc, Shiraz and Pinotage in the Cape.
HEMEL-EN-AARDE
The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is possibly one of the most exquisite wine valleys you’re ever likely to visit anywhere in the world. The name “Hemel-en-Aarde” translates to “Heaven and Earth” and from this region we offer some of their earthly delights, where their winemakers have spared no expense when it comes to perfection.
STANFORD
Stanford is close to the southernmost tip of Africa, making it one of South Africa’s coolest wine producing regions. The vineyards enjoy a cool ripening season, the result of the strong cooling winds that are prevalent in summer. These are of course ideal conditions for the production of top quality and award winning wines.
ELIM
The wines of Elim are crisp, with lots of concentrated fruit and an excellent finish. Some estates  are known for nature-inspired wines reflecting a commitment to sustainable farming, while others are known for their complex soils –giving rise to wines that balance intensity and structure with aromatic complexity and finesse.
AGULHAS
This is the southernmost part of the African continent where you will find wide windswept plains, searing heat and endless horizons. The passionate winemakers have crafted excellent wines from challenging conditions.
